The Hamptons International Film Festival is looking for interns to help support the programming department. Selected candidates will be a core member of the screening committee for feature and short film submissions, participate in the programming process, learn to correspond with filmmakers, and assist with festival database maintenance and other administrative duties. The ideal candidate is passionate about film and motivated to gain first hand experience on what it takes to put on a world renowned film festival.
Interns work directly with the Festival Programmers and the Artistic Director to maintain the daily processing and distribution of submitted screening materials and data. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. Though unpaid, this is a great opportunity to participate in the programming process of an international film festival, and for many past interns, has translated into other paid opportunities in the field. Interns get hands-on experience with festival planning and implementation, as well as exposure to the independent film community locally and regionally.
Job Requirements:
- Strong interest in independent and foreign films
- Web and computer literate (Mac), familiarity with MS Excel and Google Docs, superior professional and organizational skills
- Independent and dependable worker with a great attitude
- Must be available to work 3 days a week in our Manhattan office. Hours are flexible, though interns may be required to attend screening committee meetings.
- Available for the entire duration of the internship (May - end of August)
