Iimmediate opening for a Director of Sales & Special Events for SMG -Greek Theatre. The Director of Sales & Special Events assists in the efforts to attract and develop special events such as corporate meetings, private parties, consumer shows and filming events for the Greek Theatre. Director of Sales & Special Events will also supervise the onsite Greek Theatre event sales team during all events while also maximizing profits and providing exceptional customer service to Greek Theatre clients.
Major Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Work to develop an annual sales plan to attract and retain special events and filming for the Greek Theatre.
• Develops, directs and implements comprehensive marketing plans, initiatives and campaigns and corresponding budgets to promote and grow the facility through sales and special events.
• Works closely with Marketing Manager in effective marketing and public relations functions to achieve established benchmarks and goals.
• Works with the Director of Event Services to ensure smooth, efficient transition of customers from contracting to event production.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises any event sales team members. Responsible for the interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources department.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
• College degree and/or equivalent related work experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Sales, Business, Marketing or related subject matter with major emphasis on sales preferred.
• Minimum seven (7) years of experience in special events, show management, convention sales or related areas.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience at the administrative level with supervisory experience.
Skills and Abilities
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational ability
• Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information is required
• Strong supervisory skills
Computer Skills
• Extensive knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheets and word processing software
• Experience with a CRM program, PowerPoint and Photoshop a plus
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• None
Other Skills and Abilities
• Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information is required
• Ability to work simultaneously with a broad variety of vested interest groups and to foster a cooperative environment
• Ability to perform effectively under significant pressure typically associated with event demands.
• Strong orientation towards hospitality/customer service
• Ability to deal effectively with human resource and personnel problems; to deal constructively with conflict; to motivate provide counsel and execute applicable solutions
• Possess skills and experience in contract negotiation
• Plan, coordinate and direct varied and complex administrative operations.
• Ability to work irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include day, evening, weekends and holidays
• Must have professional attitude and appearance
