Job Description - May 10, 2021
Title: Scripted Development, Manager or Director (depending on experience),
Position Summary: GRB Studios, a leading, Emmy?-award winning producer and distributor of multi-media content for over 30 years, is looking to expand its Scripted Development team by adding an executive to work on a part-time basis who will be responsible for sourcing, developing and pitching scripted original television series and films. Reporting directly to and with oversight from GRB Studios' SVP of Development, the successful candidate will creatively manage all aspects of scripted development projects.
Responsibilities:
• Form and maintain strategic relationships with writers, directors, agents, producers, and network buyers in order to grow and advance GRB Studios' development slate, with a focus on procuring projects from diverse sources and with diverse themes.
• Actively seek out new projects and gather information as it relates to buyers and their needs, communicating frequently with agents and network executives.
• Review content (scripts, books, submissions) to determine suitability for development and provide feedback to and gather feedback from content from internal stakeholders. This will include working closely with GRB Studios' International (distribution) executives, analyzing salability of projects outside of the U.S. market.
• Analyze new program pitches to evaluate viability of concept, production challenges, cost and creative direction.
• Option source material (including scripts, books, life stories) and work in conjunction with GRB Studios' Legal & Business Affairs executives to secure rights to material.
• Develop scripts, collaborate with writers and agents and strategize with buyers.
• Develop original series, limited series and movies.
• Review scripts and prepare coverage.
• Collaborate with GRB Studios' SVP of Development and other top company executives to execute overall scripted content strategy.
Key Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of demonstrated experience working for an agency, network, studio or production company with an emphasis on scripted programming. Candidates who have worked as assistants or coordinators for agents, network or studio executives or for high-level producers will be considered. This role is for a Manager or Director-level executive, depending on experience.
• Excellent communication, strategic, presentation, creative, storytelling and writing skills.
• Strong networking abilities within the entertainment industry. Preexisting relationships with agencies, networks, production companies, writers and/or directors is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under time constraints.
• Working knowledge of scripted television and film development and production, and the processes for sourcing content and securing rights.
• A BFA or MFA is a plus.
Additional Information:
• The successful candidate for this role will be expected to work on a part-time basis (approximately 20 hours per week). Work will be performed remotely for COVID safety. This is a great opportunity to help grow GRB Studios' Scripted Development team.
