Overview
The Grand Rapids Drive, direct affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, is seeking a Director of Public Relations to develop, manage, and execute all communication strategies to uphold a positive public image for our team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maximize brand awareness and promote the Grand Rapids Drive on various internal and external communication channels
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with local media personnel and community leaders
• Engage target audience through relevant and enticing content
• Write and execute all press releases as it pertains to the team, staff, and existing partners
• Prepare timely reports following media coverage of games and events
• Organize various PR events to increase awareness of the Drive
• Handle all game-day media responsibilities (i.e meida credentials, stats reports, managing interviews, etc.)
• Highlight the team's community initiatives and partnerships
• Work closely with other departments within the organization
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations/Communications, or similar degree, required
• Must have 3 years of Public Relations experience
• Must be able to handle sensitive issues and respond appropriately to uphold a positive image of the Drive
• Exhibit a professional and approachable demeanor
• Work well under pressure and while handling multiple projects
• Meet crucial deadlines without compromising superior work
• Knowledge of media/communication trends within the industry
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Detail oriented and passionate about growing and sustaining the reputation of the Drive
• Proficient knowledge of the NBA G League and Grand Rapids Drive
• Ability to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
