Grace Chapel, a large multi-site church in the Boston-area is pioneering a new era of digital media production for inclusion, outreach and meeting the needs of others. We are looking for a smart, caring, and tech savvy video/IT production professional to coordinate and oversee the operational, directorial, and IT/technical aspects of our digital ministry productions.
This position requires working evenings, nights and weekends as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee directorial, operational, and technical aspects of Digital Ministry facilities and productions in collaboration with staff, freelancers, and volunteers to deliver a clean, high energy product.
- Coordinate technical operations for events, productions, and projects.
- Oversee virtual and IT-based control room settings, setups, troubleshooting and operation.
- Oversee video production technical areas: hardware and software-based control rooms (Vmix and OBS); audio systems (Ableton, ProTools and board); lighting; sound; and portable production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and virtual control room systems.
- Prepare and implement the operation of the 10+ camera Vmix production control system for live and recorded events.
- Oversee the upload and streaming of all video productions and live events.
- Train directors, TDs, camera, sound, lighting, and CG operators for live and taped broadcasts.
- Ensure that production, technical and financial planning timelines are met.
- Act as a liaison between Operations, IT, and the Digital Ministry production department.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of high-definition production standards and streaming options for present and future needs.
- Assist in developing and implementing new technologies; interpret and apply technical, operational, and cost standards; and identify and vet future video, lighting, and audio needs.
The Ideal Candidate Should Have:
- 5-10 years of related directorial, technical and/or operational planning, on-site management and procurement experience, and 3+ years of IT-broadcast systems/networking working experience (Vmix, OBS, etc.)
- Strong directing, shooting, lighting, and editing skills.
- A working knowledge and hands-on capability for audio (A1), audio assist (A2), shading, robotics, lighting, YouTube ingest/playback, camera operation, ProPresenter and graphics playback.
- An understanding and ability to work on IP settings, protocols and how they interface with video productions.
- In-depth awareness of developments in equipment technology (video and IT-based) and procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of organization, procurement, financial, and logistics planning related to productions and in-person events.
- Expert knowledge of high-definition technology, and how it is used between remote operations and studio operations.
- An awareness of developments in equipment technology, IT control rooms, DSLR technologies and procedures.
