About the Position:
Data I/O Technician will send, receive and distribute digital elements for feature, episodic, and commercial projects via electronic transmission or physical media such as hard drives, data tape, & discs. They will archive and retrieve data to (and from) off-line storage, and do quality assurance of post production files.
Position Expectations:
-The Data I/O Technician will work closely with the rest of the post team to receive, log, track, and manage files, drives and other client elements needed throughout the post production pipeline.
-Send, receive, and distribute files using various FTP and web-based file transfer methods. The ideal candidate will be able to archive/retrieve data to the off-line tape library and perform quality assurance tests of files.
-In addition, the candidate will be able to communicate inbound / outbound file deliveries within multiple departments to ensure the timely completion of work.
-Maintain logs of completed work orders and inbound files.
-Identify and troubleshoot network and hardware discrepancies.
-Receive, log and track all materials and communicate with production teams on materials received and delivered.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
-Experience in Computer/ Information Science, Media, Communications or related field.
-Prior experience with DI, editorial, or sound files in a post environment.
-Ability to navigate proficiently in a Linux/Unix/Irix shell, execute commands, & write simple scripts.
-Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
-Working knowledge of FTP and web-based file transfer methods. -Working knowledge of various file formats used in Film & Video post-production.
-Familiarity with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
-Prior experience in Film/ TV Post-Production.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability to multi-task under pressure with minimal supervision.
-Strong attention to detail.
-Able to prioritize and meet departmental goals.
-Availability to work overtime.
Salary starts at $40K/year, but willing discusses higher pay based upon experience and skill set.
