Sr. IT Director, Digital Media & Content Tech.
Role Summary
The Senior IT Director overseeing Digital Media & Content Technology will work within the Information Technology Department to gather, manage, and deliver technology solutions for Content Business Unit teams servicing Global Eagle's customers across the world. This Senior IT Director level role supports and represents the Content Business within IT, aligns roadmaps and priorities across business stakeholders, and will directly support the ongoing management of new and existing content distribution platforms within Global Eagle Entertainment.
Key Responsibilities
Application & System Management
• Demonstrate understanding of digital content workflows, post-production applications, and media technology, finding ways to apply industry best practices to the company.
• Willingness to learn business tools and technology to better understand needs, requirements, workflows and processes.
• Review business process and/or technical designs to validate appropriate use of technology, and ensure our systems improve business processes, operations, and information process flow.
• Review software acquisition contracts, professional service contracts and application maintenance renewals to ensure appropriate protections are included, and costs optimized to align with IT priorities and needs.
• Ensure continuous delivery of IT services by monitoring performance, providing application support as needed, and adhering to service level agreements with end users.
• Continually review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems, and develop strategies to consolidate, migrate, re-factor, or retire existing legacy systems, tools, and processes.
• Collaborate within IT to assist with the vision, strategy and roadmap for next generation technology initiatives.
Integration and Development
• Maintain and manage an ongoing roadmap of development activities and integrations. Identify future enhancements, prioritize against the existing roadmap, and implement when required.
• Ensure developed integrations are compatible, interoperable, and maintained across business and enterprise applications.
• Design process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
• Coordinate with business stakeholders, system owners, and development resources to ensure requirements are properly documented, organized, and communicated effectively with all parties involved.
• Support Information Security teams to ensure industry security policies and requirements are being adhered to across integration and development efforts.
• Responsible for the 24x7 Operational Management of the Content Operations systems and platforms : Performance, Availability, Problem Resolution, Vendor Management.
• Coordinate and management efficient cloud services configuration and cost models in coordination with internal IT teams and Content Business Operations units.
Project & Budget Management
• Collaborate with various business groups to manage and track multiple project initiatives as they relate to the Content Business.
• Manage, prioritize, and communicate initiatives, development efforts, configuration changes, and roadmaps within IT.
• Ensure project management status is documented, captured, and reported using IT tools and processes.
• Plan and optimize budgets including ongoing vendor costs, new projects, and resources internally and externally to Global Eagle.
• Manage and track contractual relationships with internal and external parties, including SOWs, scope, and timelines.
Communication & Process Improvement
• Organize, prepare, and effectively communicate project updates and status to senior leadership members in the business.
• Apply broad industry and enterprise knowledge that supports global strategic and operational business goals.
• Research and review the effectiveness and efficiency of existing business processes and develop strategies for improvements.
• Reinforce and champion the idea and culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the organization.
• Continually manage organization design for effective service delivery. Identify and implement best practices and sourcing methods for a specific need or service, including on/off shore delivery models.
Organizational Management
• Review and approve ongoing business requests for IT within digital media and content technology business groups.
• Responsible for working with business stakeholders and various operational teams to ensure IT processes are adhered to.
• Guide the development of staff members, objectives, coaching, performance reviews, and advice regarding compensation.
• Establish, contribute to and/or adhere to all key departmental operating procedures around governance, project management, software lifecycle management, change management, and application security controls.
• Lead and manage the selection of any vendor selection processes (RFP, RFI) that the Content Business may choose to use.
Qualifications/Experience
• Bachelor degree in the field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Accounting, Management Information Systems, or other relevant programs. An advanced degree is a plus.
• Five to eight years of related work experience within the Media & Entertainment industry is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in managing digital content workflows, business applications, services, or IT infrastructure.
• General understanding of post-production workflows and technology (Editorial, Audio, QC, Finishing/Mastering)
• Experience communicating and collaborating with highly distributed and globally diverse teams, vendors, and resources.
• Experience and/or familiarity with AWS Cloud technology and services is a plus.
• Experience and/or familiarity with providing technology support, service, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with business and technical requirements creation, analysis, management, and methodology development.
• Experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software solutions, systems, or products.
• Proven experience formulating, managing and delivering large scale, complex business & technology projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
• Familiarity with industry communication tools including: JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheets, and other similar tools.
• Ability to effectively, and independently, manage multiple competing priorities with high attention to detail; requires strong organizational, planning and time management skills
• Ability to travel up to 30% to domestic and global locations depending on business priorities.
