Title: Metadata Specialist

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Global Digital Media Xchange Inc. seeks a Metadata Specialist for the Compression department. Position will create, edit and verify content metadata. Package assets and deliver files to multiple clients. Download, organize and maintain customer provided metadata packages. Edit XML, manually and through scripts, and modify metadata as necessary in order to assemble a valid package according to client specifications. The Metadata Specialist is responsible for uploading packages to clients, tracking revisions and errors and seeing the package through to successful delivery. This position must also communicate effectively with team members and clients in order to address and resolve any issues throughout the production process. The primary deliverables are iTunes packages which demand extraordinary attention to detail, the ability to adapt and successfully navigate an ever-changing work environment as well as excel while learning on the job.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creation and verification of XML documents for multiple clients.
• Packaging of metadata and physical elements.
• Gather and manage metadata to insure on-time deliveries.
• Successfully troubleshoot and resolve metadata issues and rejections.
• Implement effective data tracking and communication to facilitate successful workflows.
• Work effectively with all stakeholders throughout the production process.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of metadata specifications for all clients.
• Effectively analyze and resolve issues in an efficient and productive manner.
• Complete additional work as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• College degree, preferably in Computer Sciences, Electronics, Multi-Media Technology or a related field, or 5+ years industry related experience in areas such as tape duplication, quality control, editing.
• Previous experience with metadata for VOD and related applications.
• Experience with XML, HTML, etc.
• Working knowledge of the following: HTML, XML, and Character encodings (utf-8, iso-8859-1, windows-1252)
• Must be able to review, comprehend, and summarize detailed status on numerous activities.
• Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must have good attention to detail (able to review their own work, as well as others).
• Must maintain confidentiality.
• Must solve problems within scope of responsibility (or route problems to appropriate individuals).
• Must speak and write clearly and effectively.
• Must provide guidance with regard to policies, reason through issues, work effectively with clients, vendors, and handle multiple concurrent tasks.
• Must be able to work well under pressure, and prioritize/schedule work accordingly.
• Must be proactive, and be ready to take on additional responsibility.
