Title: Manager, Multimedia Programming
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Global Digital Media Xchange Inc. (GDMX) seeks a Manager, Multimedia Programming for the Compression department. The Manager of Multimedia Programming will oversee Authoring Operations for Standard Definition (DVD), High Definition (BD) and 3D. This position will work closely with VP, Digital Production Operations, Client Services, Compression and QC to meet the day-to-day demands of internal and external clients. The Manager, Multimedia Programming will oversee a team of SD, BD and 3D authoring operators using Toshiba, Scenarist and Blueprint authoring tools. Candidate must be solution oriented and maintain his/her composure while working through complex client related issues. A strong knowledge of traditional and advanced digital media workflows relating to Authoring is required. Manager will produce tracking reports, volume and capacity forecasts and financial reports as determined. Candidate will have expert level knowledge of Blu-ray / BD-J and HDMV format. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage Multimedia Programming Team to deliver projects on time and to customer specifications for Theatrical New Release, Franchise and T-Cat titles.
• Liaise with Managers from Client Services, Compression, QC, Technical Support to troubleshoot all issues related to BD / DVD deliveries.
• Capacity planning and forecasting to proactively allocate resources among Authoring team to support scalability across all product types and among all customers.
• Create a formal training program to cross-train all authoring operators to support DVD, BD (BD-J, HDMV) and 3D authoring, and other new businesses.
• Work with Compression, QC, DML and Client Services to streamline tracking and management process to create efficiencies between departments.
• Increase performance throughput by Implement Continuous Improvement processes to reduce rework and eliminate rejections from the authoring team.
• Weekly departmental meetings providing status updates and review of upcoming schedules. Supply department status and updated to VP of Digital Productions, as needed.
• Manage Authoring team attendance, overtime, time card approvals, vacation.
• Review hardware, software and system requirements and make recommendations to improve performance throughout the delivery workflow.
• Reconcile work orders against invoices for final approvals.
• Develop new processes and workflows related to emerging Multimedia Programming business.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• BA or BS degree in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Minimum 2 years experience managing a team or department within a studio or major vendor.
• Previous Authoring Experience in a Professional Environment.
• Must have experience working in a production environment.
• Knowledge of the Blu-ray and DVD Specification required.
• Knowledge of various Multimedia Programming languages and tools, including HTML and Adobe InDesign preferred.
• Must be able to manage production volume and forecast in house and outsourcing needs.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of personnel (in person, telephone, written).
• Must be able to organize and schedule work effectively.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be able to work efficiently under time constraints.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
• Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
• Must be service-oriented.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime, if and when necessary.
• Must be able to perform general office activities: walking, standing, sitting, speaking, lifting, bending, finger manipulation, etc.
• May also require lifting equipment of up to 50 lbs.
