SVP, Communications (FX Networks – Los Angeles, CA 90064)
The Senior Vice President of Communications manages consumer media relations and corporate communications for FX Networks, which consists of the linear channels FX, FXX and FXM, publicity of FX programming distributed non-linearly through FX on Hulu, and FX Productions.
In this role, the SVP will be responsible for all consumer publicity campaigns for FX Original Series distributed linearly and nonlinearly. The SVP will serve as the chief publicity strategist and manage the publicity team and their respective FX original series and acquired programming. The SVP will determine show assignments, manage consumer and trade press releases and all program media guides. The SVP will work with the EVP of Communications, President of Entertainment and Presidents of Original Programming in all matters related to press conferences, panels and festivals involving FX programs and talent, while working closely with the SVP of Creative Services on issues related to Talent Relations, Awards and Events.
The SVP oversees corporate communications and will serve as the point of contact for trade media journalists, primarily related to series development inquires and announcements, series orders and season order announcements, casting announcements, production deal announcements for FX Productions, awards publicity and profiles on FX Networks Executives and FX Networks talent.
Responsibilities:
• The chief publicity strategist will work with the FX leadership team to create network vision and strategy for all consumer publicity campaigns for FX Original Series distributed linearly and nonlinearly. Lead the development and execution of media relations campaigns across business, trade and consumer outlets. Manage the day-to-day organization and operation of media relations.
• Develop communications strategies to promote the FX brand and its content. Responsible for day-to-day organization and operation of corporate communications function, serving as the primary point person for trade media, primarily related to series development inquires and announcements, series orders and season order announcements, casting announcements and talent overall and first-look deal announcements for FX Productions. Provide strategic guidance and tactical assistance to executives to prepare them for media events, speeches , presentations and interviews.
• Work with the SVP of Creative Services to set planning and strategy for Talent Relations, Events and Awards in service of FX Original programming.
• Work with other departments within FX as well as Walt Disney Television Group to share and disseminate information in addition to strategic planning for company initiatives.
• Responsible for managing creating, and tracking publicity budget and determine dept initiatives to stream line processes.
Requirements:
• Ideally 15 years of experience in entertainment publicity with strong emphasis on consumer and trade press.
• 8 years management experience leading teams, developing strategy and executing plans.
• Track record leading/managing successful communications strategies at a network, studio or outside agency.
• Bachelor's degree in Communications and/or related field or equivalent work experience in communications or media relations
• Extensive consumer and trade entertainment media contacts
• Experience working closely with Chairman and President level executives on difficult or challenging programming related issues
• Exceptionally strong interpersonal and writing skills are required. Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to handle stressful situations and a myriad of personalities in the workplace are critical.
• Must be charismatic and persuasive, able to motivate and inspire subordinates, peers and superiors.
• Must be autonomous and decisive, able to oversee and manage multiple projects at the same time.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
