Fremantle, a leading global independent television and entertainment company, is seeking a Director of Business Affairs who will be responsible for negotiating and drafting agreements related to the acquisition and production of television and new media content, and handling day to day business affairs matters.
Responsibilities
• Structure, negotiate and draft all manner of production agreements (short and long form)
(e.g., development agreements, shopping agreements, showrunner, participant and talent agreements, integration and sponsorship agreements, license and co-production, rights acquisition, format licenses, etc.) in connection with the development and production of unscripted programming
• Advise production legal, accounting, and other company executives on guild issues
• Work with outside counsel, as necessary, to handle production legal, litigation, copyright and trademark, music, and rights and clearance matters
• Handle other general business affairs matters as needed
Requirements
• JD and active State Bar membership
• A minimum of 4 years of business affairs experience at an agency, network, studio, or television production company, specifically including experience with U.S. reality/unscripted television productions
• Superior negotiation and legal drafting skills and high level of attention to detail
• Knowledge of evolving trends in media, including broadcast network, cable, SVOD, AVOD, and international distribution
• Established relationships within the entertainment industry business affairs and legal communities are a plus
• Familiarity with co-financing and co-production agreements is a plus
• Highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage time, with exceptional organizational skills and a facility with handling a constant stream of high-priority projects.
• Ability to excel under pressure in a demanding, fast-paced, results-oriented work environment that requires efficient communication with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills, including the ability to successfully work with a range of personalities and styles
