WTTG/WDCA Fox TV in the Washington, DC television market is looking for a talented News Writer/Producer to create stories for assigned newscasts. This position requires exceptional writing and producing skills. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to use reliable resources to collect and verify information on current events, to review video, and create captivating content for newscasts. The writer/producer is expected to take the lead in assembling stories in a line-up, ordering and reviewing graphics, copy editing, and coordinating with reporters in the field. Must be comfortable taking a show into the Control Room and timing it to include commercial breaks. Must participate in the editorial process, which leads to story assignments. Will produce content in the field and/or long form stories for air. Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate their ability to create compelling, error/typo-free content for newscasts, digital and social media, including, but not limited to, writing digital stories, sending breaking push alerts, live streaming, and editing photos, graphics and videos. Incumbent will also be a fill-in newscast producer. Must have excellent storytelling skills, superior news judgment, thrive under deadline pressure, and have an overwhelming attention to detail. Experience in publishing content on digital and social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, preferred. Strong communication, writing, and copy editing skills are required; and must be able to develop and assemble content in an understandable fashion. Must be able to work in fast-paced environment under specific time constraints. Must be exceptionally creative. Must be able to think out of the box and find new ways to present information. Must be self-motivated and effectively work independently and on a team. Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications required. Minimum three (3) years of newsroom experience. Weekends, holidays and varied hours required.
