Part Time Unpaid Internship
Description of Department:
The Alternative Entertainment department consists of the unscripted programs and specials on FOX, including American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, The X Factor, Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, MasterChef, Teen Choice Awards, The Primetime Emmy Awards, among others.
Current projects and tasks that will be assigned to the intern(s):
Provide general assistance for Alternative Entertainment executives including, but not limited to, answering & logging phone calls, rolling calls, database entry, filing, photocopying, research, spread sheet data entry, on the lot runs, DVD duplication, assistance with department video database, show ticket distribution and internal & competitive reports. All of the assignments will provide interns with a broad exposure to inner workings of network television and will give them the opportunity to develop office/communication skills. You will also assist the production side of alternative entertainment.
Learning objectives:
• Broad exposure to inner workings of network television will give interns the opportunity to gain a number of skills that will help them obtain employment in the industry, including:
• Knowledge of the industry, network operations and television production needs.
• Office and communication skills -- including phone experience, using software systems and computer programs for a variety of tasks and applications.
• An understanding of the relationships between various network departments and their contributions to successful programming.
• Exposure to behind-the-scenes production facilities.
• Knowledge of reality and non-scripted television programming.
Qualifications:
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with set deadlines.
• Handle a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Must be a self-starter and team player.
• Typing: Minimum of 30 wpm.
• Know Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Business phone skills helpful.
To participate in Fox's Internship program you must meet the following criteria:
• Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and be sophomore status or above.
• Be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship by the Company.
• Housing is not provided, so please have a housing option guaranteed before applying.
