JOB DESCRIPTION
Cloth TDs bring clothing and dynamic props to life using simulations and other related tools. They work closely with modelers, riggers and animators to keep our characters both modest and dynamic. They also work with developers to design and test the tools required to keep workflows efficient and quality high under tight deadline pressures.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Cloth TDs must work with modelers to design functional garments that meet the aesthetic needs of the film and technical needs of the software. They assign physical properties to the cloth and work with Character TDs to create non-physical controls so they can be animated in an appealing, predictable and efficient way. They also work closely with animators to achieves the desired performances in shots where the garments appear. They then will be responsible for the final delivery and support of the asset to the show.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience Required:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Fine Arts, Computer Science, Computer Visualization, or equivalent work experience.
Skills
, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:
• Experience working with some type of dynamic simulations (cloth, particle or fluid)
• Strong problem solving skills both visual and technical
• Able to collaborate professionally with colleges
• Proficiency in scripting, preferably for Maya using MEL or Python is a plus
