WJZY-TV, the FOX O&O duopoly in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking an Audio Technician, who reports to the Production & Operations Manager. The Audio Technician will operate the audio board during live newscasts and other productions; properly mixing various sources including anchor mics, audio from live remotes, animated opens and video clips. The ideal candidate will a thorough understanding and knowledge of broadcast television production, including but not limited to: studio camera operation, floor direction and maintenance of the studio (i.e. sets and props, periodic cleaning, etc.). Maintain wireless mic and IFB packs, ensuring fresh batteries before each show. Responsible for monitoring crews that are dialing in on IFB lines and obtaining mic checks from talent before each live shot. Must be able to route the proper mix-minus audio sub-mix to each IFB line, ability to put live callers on air and skill to help troubleshoot audio issues with input from the engineering department. The best candidate must be capable to work under pressure in a cohesive team environment. Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be able to work holidays, weekends and alternate schedules. Minimum of one-years' experience in a news production position. High school degree or equivalent is required.
