The Business & Legal Affairs department is seeking an entertainment attorney to provide business and legal support to Fox Broadcasting Company (FBC) and Fox Alternative Entertainment (FAE) network and studio business executives and operations with respect to drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements related to development and production of programming. Production work will be primarily oriented toward unscripted/alternative programming.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze, negotiate and draft producer/development deals, certificates of engagement, indemnification agreements, talent deals, vendor agreements, tradeouts, location agreements, casting applications, and releases
- Negotiate and draft a variety of programming acquisition agreements (production services agreements, license and format agreements, etc.), as well as other content-related agreements
- Analyze, negotiate and draft various agreements related to network and studio operations and activities
- Analyze contracts in response to business questions, and provide contractual and research information to business executives and more senior attorneys to assist with business decisions
- Review background, medical and psychological diligence for reality participants
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Law degree (J.D.)
- Must be an active member of the California or New York bar (or willing and qualified to be registered In-House Counsel)
- Minimum of 2 years prior transactional legal experience required, preferably at a television network, studio, production company or entertainment law firm
- Previous experience in unscripted/alternative programming is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Word and Excel
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail
- Ability to perform moderate to advanced-level reasoning tasks and make common sense decisions
- Ability to respond to and interact with senior level creative and business executives in a professional, articulate, personable and helpful manner
- Must be very organized and able to manage and effectively prioritize multiple projects
