JOB DESCRIPTION
As the Executive Producer Radio News, you will be a crucial member of our management team. You will conceptualize, write and compile enterprise stories while developing sources and building and writing show content and newscasts for the FOX News Radio platforms. You may be the right candidate if you have the right attitude and understand the level of commitment required to be successful in this role. Your passion for national and international news is bar none!
The Executive Producer, Radio News will work along the Managing Editor, Director Of News Programming, Senior Editor of Audio Newsgathering, Manager of New Media and Newsroom Operations.
This is a shift-based role, Monday to Friday, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Set the editorial and production needs and standards and provide leadership in the newsroom
• Build fast-paced newscasts and show rundowns
• Generate creative and innovative ideas for segments and pieces
• Approve and coordinate - production assistant, audio coordinator, producer, and shift editor team schedule with coordinating producer
• Communicate daily story developments with the fellow management team
• Communicate with fellow management team regarding on-air talent, reporters, and guests in the field to ensure the newscast and shows run as smoothly as possible
• Manage broadcast and team to meet content objectives and newscast strategies to live up to the brand
• Work closely with management team leading into weekend content
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• At least 8 years proven experience in a daily breaking news environment, preferably for a news outlet covering and writing a wide range of local, national and international stories
• Proven ability to work under tight deadlines, without compromising editorial standards
• Familiarity with AP style, strong knowledge of current events
• Experience using content management systems, social media tools
• Excellent organizational and managerial skills as well as the ability to create an environment that fosters team work
• Decisive and skilled management of a radio control room is a must. The ability to produce live breaking news coverage in a working control room
• Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure and meet multiple daily deadlines
• Knowledge and passion for current events and politics
• Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize compelling stories to distributed on multiple audio platforms
• Degree in Journalism or related field
• Ability to work some holidays and off-hours in the event of major breaking news
• You must be reachable via email and phone 24/7 to handle scheduling concerns pertaining to your team, along with overall editorial guidance during breaking news during after hour staffing adjustments
