JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Coordinating Producer to join ''The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino''. As Coordinating producer, you are motivated, experienced, well-versed and passionate about this ever-evolving news business. You are the right-hand person to the Executive Producer and Line Producer for all editorial and production needs. You coordinate breaking news events in a live control room! You are the primary backup line producer and field produce Dana's special events coverage on location. Dana has a passion for politics and current events, and so do you. You are able to build a rundown from scratch and produce a segment from start to finish on any topic. You have exceptional news judgment and solid time management skills. You're a team player who knows how to motivate staff and move mountains in this hectic business. You work well under deadline pressure and have flexibility with your schedule as news and events warrant.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Be the EP's eyes and ears in the control room, especially during breaking news
• Build and line produce the one hour broadcast using original elements and graphic images
• Manage changes during the live show and coordinate effectively with the team
• Pitch original ideas for our show's guests from various publications, podcasts, and other reporting
• Research thoughtful elements including Op-eds and sound for each guest
• Ensure copy and editorial are constantly up to date and accurate
• Coordinate and produce live shows from the field
• Coordinate news-maker interviews and be able to turn packages
• Provide solid news judgment and be able to dig deeper on a variety of stories
• Help plan daily and future editorial content for the show
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• At least 5 years of live news experience
• Experience field producing reporter live shots and/or live shows with anchors
• Control room experience, ideally as a segment and/or guest producer (line producing experience is a bonus)
• Exceptional editorial skills and a positive attitude
• Knowledge of current events coupled with a passion for news, particularly politics
• Ability to work under pressure, be decisive, detail-oriented and meet deadlines
• Bachelors' degree in Journalism or related field is preferred
• Ability to work a flexible schedule for news events
