JOB DESCRIPTION
Fox News is looking for a tenacious producer to join our Washington, D.C. team. In this role you will split your time between Capitol Hill and our newsroom assisting with newsgathering, live shots and packages. This pro-active, passionate and self-motivated individual will work with our producers and reporters to break news and advance the networks' coverage.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with our Capitol Hill team Tuesday through Thursday - attending press conferences and events, conducting interviews and shooting video, with an emphasis on flagging and highlighting new developments
• Provide editorial and logistical guidance to drive our Capitol Hill coverage and stay ahead of our competitors
• Build contacts and develope unique sources that allow you the opportunity to break news
• Assist reporters in gathering video, picking sound bites for use on air, with live shots and producing packages
• Work with DC and NY based shows – gathering elements for interviews, reporters and panels segments as well as creating accurate and easily understood on screen graphics
• Work directly with iNews and video editing software to produce elements and add them to show rundowns
• Pitch stories and developing original content for television and digital that approach stories from unique angles
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of political reporting in a broadcast, print or digital work environment preferred
• Exceptional editorial judgment and intricate knowledge of Capitol Hill and national politics
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Proficiency in shooting, editing and digitally transmitting video
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, multitask, and prioritize on a daily basis, and especially in breaking news situations
• Strong contacts in the Capitol Hill, federal agencies and the White House
• Ability to work flexible shifts depending on the news cycle
