Full Time Job
The Maintenance Engineer must be versatile and have the ability to adapt to the diverse and changing hardware and software systems utilized for on Air, Production, and News gathering operations. This includes but is not limited to: Production systems, Ross switchers and Overdrive, SSL audio boards, Sony EX3 and 320 cameras, Vinten robotics, Clearcom intercom, TONS play out servers; Master Control automation systems, Brutus automation, Evertz, NVision; News gathering systems, Sony 320 cameras, microwave, satellite, and IP signal acquisition systems, NLE editing, TONS ingest and playout. Fundamental computer, server and network knowledge as it applies to broadcast engineering.
Responsibilities
• To maintain, operate and repair equipment. Read and understand line drawings and technical manuals as reference documents to insure optimum operation and performance of equipment.
• To perform preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities as needed to insure optimum operation and performance of the equipment. Reviews preventative maintenance schedules and performs maintenance, inspections and adjustments as needed.
• Be proactive in identifying blatant or underlying problems in the plant and fixing those problems
• Read and understand station drawings, understand station signal paths, utilize test equipment (oscilloscope, phabrix, spectrum analyzers), terminate wires (coaxial and network), and troubleshoot fiber connections.
• To be able to efficiently troubleshoot, analyze, and correct malfunctioning equipment and systems. Diagnose and repair faulty equipment and/or systems down to the lowest practical level. Utilize test equipment, technical manuals and schematic diagrams as part of the diagnostic and troubleshooting process. Affect repairs to return the systems or equipment to service.
• To effectively communicate with and listen to operators, producers, writers, directors, other staff and/or clients in order to diagnose and troubleshoot problems in a timely manner.
• To accurately detail and document work, projects, installations, daily repair, and work in progress, to ensure information is updated and accurate records are maintained.
• Orders and prioritizes work assignments without supervision to insure smooth operation of the facility.
• Contact vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers as necessary to obtain repair documentation, information and parts as needed.
Qualifications
Education
BS degree or equivalent certification in a technical discipline, i.e., electrical, mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience. Two to three years’ job experience as a Maintenance Engineer.
Physical
Ability to frequently lift weights up to 50 lbs., frequently bend, kneel, stoop, and reach. Ability to stand for long periods (greater than 1 hr.). Ability to use tools, manipulate small parts and make minute adjustments to controls requiring fine finger movements. High visual acuity.
Environmental
Exposure to high noise levels, fumes, vapors, dust, dirt, high noise levels, fires, demonstrations, etc., working around equipment.
Other
Ability to work alone and without supervision. Ability to work under deadline and time constraint. Ability to work various hours including nights and weekends.
