The Position:
We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented Contracts Administrator & Legal Assistant to join our team in NYC. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working at a network, film studio and/or as a legal assistant or Paralegal at a firm. Must be a self-stater and have the ability to work well with a fast-paced legal team. Individual must remain calm during stressful situations, while managing urgent deadlines and have solution oriented attitude. This is a temp position, with the possibility of going perm.
Responsibilities:
As contracts administrator, you will coordinate the execution and archiving of hundreds of contracts for a fast-growing media company.
Assist in the build and customization of and become an expert in the company's new rights management software.
Be the point person for the rights management software and company-wide requests re-contract and payment terms.
Input key terms from hundreds of contracts into the rights management system.
Keep track of and communicate contract expirations and other important dates.
Draft and prepare contracts based on templates prepared by the legal team.
Proofread contracts and other legal documents if and as requested by legal team.
Take notes and minutes at legal team meetings.
Prepare and manage legal team's task lists and project status charts.
General administrative support (including scheduling, copying, scanning, etc.) for 4-5 in-house attorneys.
Qualifications:
At least 1-2 years of relevant experience, preferably at network, film studio, or other media company and/or substantive legal experience as legal assistant or paralegal at a law firm.
Familiarity with and ability to read and interpret complex entertainment-related contracts, including option-purchase agreements, writer agreements, acquisitions agreements, co-production agreements, financing agreements.
High level of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Rightsline rights management software proficiency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as the job will require a high volume of daily communications across multiple departments.
Must be extremely well-organized and attentive to detail.
Proactive, positive attitude.
Team-oriented.
Willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly.
This is a six- to nine-month contract (possible temp to perm).
