FBE is a hybrid media company, studio, and network that creates innovative and entertaining programming for a digital native audience. We produce 10 serialized shows across 2 channels for about 20 million YouTube subscribers, across various owned and operated and partner digital channels and currently in need of a Creative Director.
Job Description Summary:
You will work closely with the CCO and CEO as well as be a leader of the Creative team, supporting 9 Producers and growing. Our ideal candidate has 5+ years experience in creating and developing successful and sustainable short-form premium show formats for digital platforms (YouTube and Facebook experience required). You should have a knowledge and expertise of what works in the sharing world of video, even with micro-budgets, and wants their work seen and engaged with by million and across FBE's owned and operated digital channels. The position will work closely with the CCO and reports to the VP Of Production.
Needs to be an accomplished writer, well versed in writing scripts, beat sheets, show bibles, one-pagers, treatments, and developing new concepts and shows of all sorts on a weekly basis. Will also be a mentor and inspire Producers, to pitch and develop new series and concepts, while establishing documentation and process for developing content across the digital network to keep the views and quality of FBE's existing popular content up to code. A level-headed, passionate, deadline driven, motivated leader, with a can-do positive collaborate attitude and a self-starter that thrives even when working independently. Being skilled in time management, and self-management is a plus.
New concepts will range between both large and small budgets, long form and short form, for both internally on content produced for FBE's channels, as well as outside buyers and partners for branded entertainment and short-form digital platforms. There is also an opportunity to develop on the long form side of the company, assisting with treatments and show bibles for scripted and non-scripted content as part of the development team alongside the CCO.
Will be responsible for building and rolling out new initiatives from the CCO, working and presenting their own ideas, fielding pitches for new ideas from the Producing team, as well as building a contributing writing system to source external ideas from other creatives to bring into FBE.
Field RFPs for Branded Content from Biz Dev Dept., and work with the team to deliver all creative needs including script writing and beat sheets. Will also work with the production team to execute.
Develop and pitch new series across non-scripted and scripted short form and long form content. The focus will be short-form digital.
Be part of Company's highest level creative strategy and process, being 2nd in command under the CCO for Creative across the digital studio.
Work with and empower the producing team. Lead in vision for types of content to be pitching and developing. Field and note their concepts and scripts and notes.
Provide notes across ideas, scripts, and edited cuts of episodes as required, and provide creative feedback on finished products with members of the team overseeing the projects.
Build a sustainable system of external contributing writers and producers to reach out to for branded content ideas, new show formats. Field and present new concepts to CCO.
Build decks and treatments for show concepts being pitched to market.
Build process and documentation for efficient workflow across the creative endeavors of the company.
Be a leader and mentor to a team of talented and hungry creatives to help bring them to the next level.
Work on existing show formats to stay on track and continue to sustain and grow with an emphasis on audience development and engagement.
Ability to interface with clients to build rapport, manage projects, and problem solve.
Great organization skills to track pitches, update spreadsheets, maintain contacts and calendars.
Must be self-motivated, driven and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Able to work cross-functionally with production teams to execute a creative vision.
5+ years experience producing original content in digital short-form content, with an emphasis on YouTube and Facebook.
3+ years as creative director or similar, and able to point to specific series formats originated, developed, and produced from their own creative.
2+ years of experience managing others.
Portfolio of completed original series, branded entertainment, or other creative concepts that demonstrate a proven track record of creating popular shows.
Multiple series experience in non-scripted content and branded entertainment.
An understanding and passion for online video entertainment, and interested in the media business for the digital world we live in including social media and digital advertising.
Scripted content development experience, as well as development experience in social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Instagram Stories, and Snapchat, a big plus.
Experience with Scripted content a big plus.
Knowledge of video game industry a strong plus.
Fluent in YouTube, Social Media and Viral Culture.
