Position Summary:
Film 45 is an unscripted production company helmed by Peter Berg (Patriot's Day, Friday Night Lights). The Head of Post oversees content from Film 45 as well as scripted and commercial productions and post production services for outside projects. This position manages post infrastructure, staff employees, multiple freelancers, budgets, projects, deliverables, facility and equipment upgrades. This person must have experience in both post operations and a post supervisor role.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage all post personnel across multiple projects in multiple locations. (Post Supervisors, Assistant Editors, Vault Coordinator, Post Coordinator)
• Establish efficient post work flow procedures on project-by-project basis.
• Oversee a complex post-production eco-system which includes: offline editorial systems, Avid storage, offsite (cold) storage, LTO creation, and project deliveries.
• Research & give recommendations on post capital expenditures & upgrades.
• Ensure post production staffing is planned appropriately to expand & contract as needed. Maintain long term post planning schedule as it relates to equipment, facility & personnel.
• Oversee security of all media on offline shared storage chasis and in the vault.
• Act as post supervisor on smaller contained projects and oversee all post deliverables.
• Work with EIC and producers to establish and maintain show budgets.
• Research and implementation of all post technology development for entire company.
• Schedule Assistant Editor assignments on a daily basis.
• Create and maintain vendor relationships.
• Work with legal to establish and execute contracts, deal memos, and agreements.
• Oversee vault operations and all incoming media
• Work with post coordinator to schedule edit bays for all current & expected editors, AEs, and other post staff.
• Oversee all post new hires (Editors, AEs, and other freelance talent)
• Stay current on new developments in technology to add value to the overall quality and efficiency of productions.
• Sign and track vendor invoices across all projects.
Education and Work Experience:
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-production experience, with escalating levels of responsibility. At least one year as a post executive.
• Excellent communication and management skills.
• Strong experience using Excel.
• Basic understanding of Avid workflows and technical troubleshooting required.
