Job Summary:
As a Software Engineer I in Product Engineering at ESPN, you will help build and maintain the highest-scale web applications enjoyed by fans across the globe, and the systems that help create, curate, and deliver content to ESPN products worldwide. You will work with modern server-side and web technologies including Javascript, HTML5, CSS3, Java, and RESTful APIs to deliver scalable, elegant solutions for new product features and core architecture.

Responsibilities:
• Partner with Product Management, Design, Editorial, and Engineering teams to develop core ESPN.com site functionality using web technologies including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and modern frameworks like React and Node.js.
• Help maintain and improve ESPN's family of digital products, triaging and addressing product issues while identifying opportunities for performance improvement and optimal scalability.
• Build and support tools to assist in the creation, curation, and distribution of ESPN's article, scoring, and video content.
• Contribute to ESPN's test automation suite, ensuring unrivaled product quality for sports fans.
Basic Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, and advanced knowledge of at least one object-oriented language
• Experience with modern Javascript, HTML5, CSS3 frameworks; familiarity with React and Node.js preferred
• Demonstrated ability to learn relevant technologies
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Driven and self-motivated
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent.
