Responsibilities
Responsibilities Continued:
• Translates approved corporate advertising sales strategies and goals into sales programs for an assigned territory or territories
• Maintains a current awareness of competitive advertising sales practices, particularly in an assigned territory or territories
• Makes regular input into regional advertising sales strategies
• Participates in developing advertising prices
• Participates in developing and adjusting programs for commercial advertising time and space for an assigned territory or territories
• Recommends key hiring, firing and compensation adjustment decisions for personnel in an assigned territory or territories
• Participates in, reviews or approves major deals and negotiations
• Conducts or supports the conduct of the performance management process for subordinate personnel
• Recommends the approval of the sales strategies and sales plans for an assigned territory or territories
• Develops advertising sales strategies for advertising products, programs and services to meet or exceed established area advertising sales goals and targets
• Supports ensuring the close integration of advertising sales plans and programs with ESPN's brand and marketing strategies
• Applies considerable ingenuity, creativity and analytical and organizational skills to identify and evaluate alternatives and to participate in developing aspects of ESPN's sales strategies and tactics for an assigned territory or territories
• Guides or participates in guiding the managements of assigned agencies and advertisers in the interpretation of ratings, viewer behaviors and related competitive information and data
• Accountable for the budgeted sales revenues for an assigned territory or territories
• Accountable for selling expenses in an assigned territory or territories
• Contributes to the cost effective operation of all levels of the territory or territories supervised
• Negotiates or participates in negotiations of important sales deals that affect the advertising sales revenues of an assigned territory's or territories' performance
• Maintains relationships with and plays an important role in closing important accounts
• Enhance the motivation, morale and productivity of subordinate sales executives
• Interacts with the decision-makers of important advertisers and agencies in an assigned territory or territories
• Interacts with executives in ESPN's sports programming functions
• Interacts to transmit and receive complex information
• Interprets complex information for the sales organization and clients of an assigned territory or territories
• Participates in communications to influence key decision-makers
• Able to balance ESPN's needs and outcomes with personal financial outcomes
• Has a good understanding of the competitive landscape and of current competitive trends in an assigned territory or territories
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree
• Typically, incumbent has 8- to 10- years of selling experience with at least 3-years in people management
• Is recognized as a marketing subject matter leader with good competence in sales planning and selling
• Subject matter includes National Radio, Digital Audio and Podcasting
• Is an experienced senior manager with good management skills
• Proven experience leading a team of media account executives
• Ability to adapt to change

• Bachelors Degree
