Job Summary:
The Podcast Producer, ESPN Films, will be part of a small team working to develop and execute the 30 for 30 podcasts over the course of 18 months. Podcast Producer should bring a strong audio production background and will play a leading role in shaping the production of the series. They will also take the lead on much of our sound design and engineering, helping craft the sound for 30 for 30 and related projects. The Producer will be responsible for developing and researching ideas, and being the lead project manager on long-term productions - working with internal and outside producers to build budgets, research archival, manage day-to-day production, edit drafts, and much more. There is also an opportunity to take the lead on reporting stories.
This is an 18-month role
Responsibilities:
• Project manage stories with internal and external producers, building budgets, finding sources, crafting story angles, and providing editorial guidance.
• Work closely with other producers to develop stories, contribute to various projects, research ideas.
• Take the lead on engineering and sound design, ensuring the highest audio quality and creativity for 30 for 30 and related projects
• Provide story and edit notes to contributors.
• Occasionally report and edit a story for yourself.
• Work closely with our marketing and promotion teams for each episode/season
Basic Qualifications:
• 3-5 years experience working in collaborative environments in radio journalism
• Deep proficiency and creativity in Pro Tools engineering and sound design
• Meticulous attention to detail and experience planning long-term projects
• Experience in finding, researching, and structuring unique stories
• Experience managing freelancers and collaborating with other producers, invoicing, billing, and more
• Very good organization and communication skills.
• Thrives in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience producing and editing sound-rich, narrative, audio programming
• Relationships with freelance podcast talent
• Editorial background - experience giving notes, big and small, on other people's work
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree
