Part Time Unpaid Internship
Job Summary:
We Are…
ESPN Production Operations is a unit within the Production division of ESPN Content. Our staff comprises of Network Control, Content Edit, Studio Operations, Production Control Rooms, Facility Resources and Business Operations.
This Production Operations Internship position is based out of the Charlotte office and will involve technical operation of positions in all phases of television for domestic production (SEC). This role includes, but is not limited to: server based non-linear edit, media record, play out, studio cameras, video shading, basic audio and more.
Responsibilities:
A Day in the Life…
• Operating positions may include all phases of television for domestic production
• Roles include but are not limited to content edit, media record, playout, studio cameras, video shading, audio comms, and basic audio.
• Candidates must maintain knowledge of television standards and information, operating systems, broadcast equipment, signal flow and distribution and applicable ESPN Standard Operating Procedures
• Daily shift reporting and participation at staff meetings
Basic Qualifications:
What You Bring to the Role:
• Basic understanding of all TV Production equipment and technology within assigned operating areas, which may include but not be limited to; server based recording/playback devices (DreamCatcher) and related software applications, production switchers and/or audio boards, and studio equipment (cameras).
• Hands on experience in Final Cut Pro, Avid or other edit systems
• Campus control room operations and/or previous internship in operations
• Solid written communication skills and computer literacy
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong interest and desire in pursuing a career in an operations role
• Ability to read and write in Spanish
• Historical knowledge of US sports
Preferred Education
• Enrolled as a junior, senior or graduate student in an accredited college/university in the semester prior to the internship
Additional Information:
Internship Eligibility:
• Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Program Dates: The approximate dates are July 30 – December 7, 2018. There may be some flexibility with the internship dates as needed. Interns will work 40 hours per week and must be fully available throughout the internship.
Housing: This position is located in Charlotte, NC. A limited amount of housing assistance is available for those
who qualify.
Transportation: Must provide own transportation to/from work.
