Job Summary:
The Director, Entertainment Marketing will be a thought leader within the ESPN Brand Marketing department who will seek ways to extend the ESPN brand, its sub-brands, and personalities into new and surprising areas that help ESPN content and marketing reach new audiences. This position will report to the Vice President, Brand Marketing.
Responsibilities:
The Director will analyze our businesses, programming, franchises and personalities and devise marketing strategies that help ESPN reach consumers who may not be heavy consumers of ESPN.
The Director will work closely with the Senior Director, Synergy Partnerships, to fully cover all tentacles of the media and entertainment businesses, by focusing on all Disney and non-Disney opportunities.
• Develop a deep understanding of the ESPN brand, its sub-brands, and company priorities.
• Develop strategies that allow the ESPN brand/sub-brands and company priorities to reach new audiences, beyond core sports fans.
• Execute initiatives that allow ESPN to appear in surprising and unexpected places, in order to reach new audiences, create brand affinity, and develop lifelong relationships between consumers and the ESPN brand.
• Develop marketing strategies specific to the millennial mindset in an effort to have them reconsider ESPN as more than simply live sports events.
• Develop marketing plans that place ESPN Films and other programming in non-sports specific contexts, such as music and food festivals, film festivals, street fairs, youth events, college campuses, etc.
Basic Qualifications:
• Candidate should have deep relationships and contacts throughout the entertainment industry, including movie studios, TV studios and networks, streaming services, video gaming, music industry, college campuses, film festivals, food festivals, music and travel experiences.
• Candidate should have deep understanding of the millennial consumer mindset, youth interests, and be up on media consumption trends.
• Proven track record of marketing content or brands within the entertainment industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum of 10 years' experience working in media, entertainment, sports, marketing, promotions, music, film and TV
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree, with a focus on marketing
Preferred Education
• Master's in Business Administration, with a focus on marketing
