Job Summary:
ESPN is looking for a highly motivated and experienced remote event director to join our team. This person will work a myriad of ESPN remote events including but not limited to college football, college basketball, Olympic sports in the field and out of school control rooms. We are looking for someone who will take ownership of every aspect of production under the supervision of our coordinating producers and partner with our producers to lead the flow of our shows.
Responsibilities:
• Take ownership in every aspect of the production. Empower your teammates to make contributions and partner with your producer to lead the flow of the show
• Collaborate with the Crewing department to staff, schedule and evaluate technicians
• Lead projects/discussions with internal and external partners
• Extensive preparation with all content (Sport, Game, Players) and logistics (Surveys, Meetings, Blocking and Rehearsing)
• Effectively plan and direct high-rated sporting events, scripted shows and music
• Properly document and elevate the game, integrating all production elements and new technology
Basic Qualifications:
• Knowledge of the real-time live sporting event directing processes
• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate to all crew member during the live telecast
• Knowledge of the technical equipment involved in directing live remote sporting events
• In-depth live remote sporting event directing skills
• Knowledge of sports and sports history
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
• Understanding of the financial implications of directing live remote sporting events
• Minimum 8 years experience with a variety of sports
• Appreciation of popular culture, e.g., ''what's cool'' and assists with defining the tastes of ESPN's viewers
• Understanding of the market positioning and strategies of assigned sporting events
Required Education
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience
Preferred Education
• College degree or equivalent
