Job Summary:
The Associate Producer will play an integral role in the execution of a new storytelling podcast series. This premium content will offer depth, insight and an original, enterprising approach to sports journalism. Top candidates will have audio storytelling experience, excellent editorial judgement, knowledge of various sports, and creative production technique. The Associate Producer is highly collaborative and plays a key role in all aspects of planning, pre- and post-production.
Responsibilities:
• Participates in the entire editorial process of storytelling podcasts, from idea generation to final production.
• Works as part of team to produce and edit podcasts that are consistent with the content, quality and production standards and practices of ESPN.
• Helps arrange interviews, on-site shoots and other pre-production needs, including managing recording and remote studio logistics.
• Pre-interviews reporters and sources.
• Assists on an array of content research needs, including finding archival audio, natural sound and music, and working with the rights management team on clearance.
• Transcribes interviews.
• Helps with the editing of segments, source interviews and episodes in ProTools.
• Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of related radio/audio production experience.
• Strong journalistic/editorial instincts and creative writing/storytelling skills.
• Knowledge of podcasting and digital audio industry.
• Strong familiarity with ESPN content across all platforms.
• Strong research skills.
• Demonstrated digital editing experience using ProTools audio editing software.
• Ability to work varied shifts, and under deadline pressure.
• Highly collaborative.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.Thrives in team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with digital audio and podcast content production is preferred.
• Sports writing and/or radio experience preferred.
