Full Time Job
The Developer in ESPN CreativeWorks is a non-managing position that contributes to the development of marketing collateral for digital media to promote ESPN content and products. Working under the supervision of the Associate Creative Director, the Interactive Developer is responsible for converting design mockups into dynamic, cross-browser HTML5/CSS3 content.
Responsibilities
• This role will primarily produce banner ads for display on websites and mobile devices. It requires a broad knowledge and advanced skills in front-end development, web standards, cross-device compatibility and a solid understanding of available client-side technologies. Other tasks may include responsive email development, microsites, etc.
• Additionally, light design skills and proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (notably Photoshop and Illustrator) is required in order to convert artwork into digital assets.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years of experience working within the field of front-end interactive development, preferably developing display banner ads.
• Demonstrated ability to create handwritten code following up-to-date web standards, including HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, etc.
• Knowledge and experience using GreenSock and GSAP for JavaScript HTML5 animation.
• Solid understanding of responsive web development and device limitations.
• Demonstrated ability to convert Photoshop/Illustrator designs to HTML/CSS.
• Mac and PC experience and an understanding of browser testing across platforms.
• Experience working within a collaborative design/development environment.
• Self-motivated, natural problem-solver, and a good communicator with a demonstrated ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and collaboratively.
• Must provide an online portfolio featuring examples of code-based animations, user interaction, responsive development, and design work on a web platform.
Preferred Qualifications
• Some design experience and understanding of user interaction.
• Demonstrated understanding of the mechanics, content, and operating philosophy of the ESPN.com website (on which much of our promotional digital content will appear), including an understanding of the optimal experience for a sports fan.
• An understanding of the ESPN brand and a passion for sports.
