Job Summary:
The Communications Content Specialist will focus on creating social media applications for announcements and visuals to promote ESPN's content across multiple platforms externally and internally. Visuals include social cards, graphics, videos and gifs - creative visual content that will be posted across a variety of social channels. The specialist will support the espnpr twitter handle, the espnpr Facebook page, Front Row Instagram, and the look of two web sites – MediaZone, an informational web site for press releases, biographies, press kits and more, and Front Row, the company's corporate blog.
This position will work closely with the department's Publicists as they prepare for major announcements and in the moment as announcements are made. This position will also work closely with ESPN Images and Corporate Production Group to create visually compelling content. The Specialist will also proactively suggest ideas for visuals to help distribute content across platforms. The specialist will play an integral role with multiple teams within the communications department to strategize and ensure visuals are cutting-edge and lead to greater engagement.
Note: this is a part-time position
Responsibilities:
• Create social media applications for announcements
• Create compelling visuals for a variety of ESPN Communications social channels including twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook
• Support Publicists as they create materials to promote a variety of initiatives including content, commentators, milestones, new agreements.
• Strategize with Communications colleagues to determine what content will have the most social impact
• Work closely with ESPN Front Row and MediaZone teams to ensure the most dynamic look.
• Shoot and edit video, often on a tight deadline
• Edit copy, write captions, create headlines
• Post content to ESPN Front Row.
• Work closely with ESPN Images for compelling photos and CPG for compelling video.
• Additional assignments as needed
Basic Qualifications:
• One year of experience in a media setting
• Extensive knowledge of social channels and types of content that create engagement
• Experience in strategizing to maximize social impact
• Extensive familiarity with Word, WordPress, PhotoShop, Canva, iMovie
• Knowledge of ESPN programming and commentators is a must
• Experience successfully creating visual content, including shooting and editing video with a quick turnaround time
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience in copy editing, caption writing, headline creation
• Collaborative skills necessary
Preferred Qualifications:
• One year of experience creating social media content
• Sports PR experience a plus
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree
