Job Summary:
The Domestic Digital Sports associate editor works across sports and platforms to create and curate the most accurate, timely and engaging content for fans. Candidates must demonstrate a strong editing background, news judgement and the ability to work within a team.
Responsibilities:
• The Domestic Sports associate editor will identify storytelling opportunities and work with sport- and team-specific writers to create unique content for fans.
• The Domestic Sports associate editor will help plan coverage and content for games and other live events.
• The Domestic Sports associate editor will collaborate with our distribution teams and other cross-platform partners to ensure we're meeting fans where they are. job may require
• The Domestic Sports associate editor may travel, including working remotely on site at sporting events.
Basic Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to edit skillfully
• Passion for sports and a strong knowledge of teams/schools, players and storylines
• Strong understanding of social media and the latest new media trends
• Adept as a team player, at taking initiative and at multi-tasking
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1-2 years working in a high-level sports media environment, creating and managing content
• Sporting events take place on nights, weekends and holidays -- and those shifts will be regular and required.
• Experience working with a variety of digital content management systems
Required Education
• High School Diploma
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism or new media, or an equivalent combination
