Job Responsibilities, Duties and Essential Job Functions:
The Mechanical Designer (MD) reports to the Head of Mechanical Design and is responsible for the design, management and development of designs as assigned. In addition to taking lead on designs for projects the MD is responsible for ensuring designs are followed through from concept to completion. This is a full-time minimum 40 hours per week position.
Mechanical Design Duties:
1. Work with senior designers and/or project managers on design / development of projects
2. Complete designs already in progress for small and large projects
3. Assemble and complete final design packages, including drawings and design documentation
4. Provide input and feedback during design concept and design reviews
5. Provide input for bids/new work
Other Duties may include:
1. Create drawings of fully realized designs
2. Work with other designers/detailers to complete designs/drawing packages, as needed
3. Parts Research and quotes
4. Site Surveys
5. Scheduling
6. Prepare bid packages to send to fabrication shops
7. Participate in client meetings/reviews to discuss designs
8. Coordination with shop staff during build process
9. Provide weekly updates of design progress
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of 3 years' experience, engaging in mechanical design duties
2. Minimum 2 years' experience with 3D CAD design using Autodesk Inventor software. Candidates with only standard AutoCAD 3D design may be considered. Candidates with Solidworks or other technical 3D CAD software may be considered
3. Bachelor's degree preferably in Technical Theatre, Engineering, or other technical field. Certification and/or a degree from a technical school or training program will be considered. Equivalent professional experience will be considered
4. Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
5. Must be self-motivated able to self-manage on smaller projects
6. Experience in a fabrication environment preferred
7. Experience with both new installation projects as well as installation into existing spaces/facilities helpful
Travel and Conditions: Travel may be required. This position is in Las Vegas, NV.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
