FALL MUSIC INTERNSHIP
Location: New York, NY.
Terms: unpaid, part-time internship for college credit.
Do you like music? Are you interested in solving complex problems? At Dubset Media, you can be part of and learn from a growing team of music business professionals shaping the future of music clearance and distribution.
Dubset is a media and music technology company redefining user-generated content's role (UGC, i.e. remixes and DJ mixes) in the music industry. Working together with DJs, producers, streaming services, labels, publishers, and distributors, Dubset is paving the way for UGC monetization and music rights management.
We are seeking highly-motivated and hardworking individuals who are passionate about helping us achieve our vision.
NEEDS:
For the Fall 2018 internship program at Dubset, we are looking for undergraduate students with a background or interest in general business, entrepreneurship, and/or the music business. Ideally, candidates will have also have an interest in new technologies and tech industry.
For the fall, we will be hiring interns that fall into three categories:
-Marketing (Label Relations)
-Data and analytics (Label Relations)
-Label Relations (General)
Please specify which category you are applying for, though we realize that interns will likely do work in each of the above categories.
RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:
Marketing Focus (Label Relations):
-Photoshop or other graphic design experience preferred.
-Creating internal and external design and marketing materials (slides decks, company one-pagers, presentations, etc.) using Adobe -Photoshop and Microsoft.
-PowerPoint experience preferred.
-An eye for design, and the ability to communicate said ''vision.''
-Experience with copywriting (either email or social media writing experience).
-Working with LPS managers in preparing and sending out newsletter to company clients.
-Reporting on newsletter delivery stats.
Data Focus (Label Relations):
-Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets required.
-Utilizing BuzzAngle/Chartmetric (music industry data tools), Salesforce, and Intercom in conjunction with Google Sheets, and Microsoft Excel to prepare and organize data and reports.
-Data cleaning; knowledge of pivot tables is a plus.
Label Relations (General):
-Collaborating on white papers and research reports alongside LPS Managers.
-Managing our client Salesforce and Intercom data and information.
-A hunger to find and execute opportunities to provide value.
-Other projects and tasks as needed.
-Experience with music production is not required but is meriting (making remixes & DJ mixes).
-Able to absorb and utilize new business software applications.
For All Interns:
-Able to work independently.
-Look to solve problems before going to others for assistance.
-Pay attention to detail.
-Ability to think of and execute projects to provide value.
-Strong interest in the music industry and media.
-Highly motivated and organized with excellent communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-Prior music industry internship experience preferred but not required.
-Prior work experience (part-time or summer) preferred.
-Professional goals in alignment with our core values and business objectives.
-Enrolled in a four-year accredited university or college.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
-Be available to work out of Dubset's Manhattan (Chelsea) office.
-Must own a laptop and bring to the office for daily use.
-Must be in the office 12 hours per week minimum.
-Be available for at least 10 weeks.
-Must be okay with an unpaid internship (although Dubset is unable to help search for grants or scholarships, we are happy to sign any -documents that allow interns access to external sources of income like grants or scholarships).
-Must complete short ''working interview assignment'' following phone or in-person interview.
-During your internship, you'll do work that at times could be considered exciting and at other times tedious. Realize that all tasks/assignments assigned to interns carry a purpose in helping the company achieve its goals. And understand that the intern manager would have to otherwise complete 95% of work given to the intern.
-Although this is an unpaid internship, stand-out interns are considered for paid positions based on their fit and positional vacancies
