Part Time Unpaid Internship
Responsibilities
Now accepting resumes for the Fall Internship Program (part-time, 16-24 hours per week, paid) with start a date in September.
DreamWorks Animation seeks an Intern for the Artistic Development Department in Glendale, CA. As a member of the internal education team the Intern will learn about the studio culture and artistic programming. Intern will develop graphic elements that will be used to promote and market internal events. Intern will also learn how to coordinate and develop various Artistic Development events, classes, lunch lectures, screenings, employee galleries, and more. He/She will prepare and maintain the art studio in support of ongoing and special series classes. Intern will gain knowledge of the animation process as well as the expectations of an entry level position in a production environment.
The Intern will gain knowledge of DreamWorks Animation and the animation industry by attending weekly information sessions throughout the semester.
The Intern will learn about event production and promotions in a studio environment.
The Intern will be encouraged to attend training and Artistic Development classes to learn about the animation pipeline, the software used to create our movies, and the ongoing hands on art practice maintained by many of our artists.
The Intern will have opportunity to meet with artists from departments of interest over the internship to learn about the day to day process for those departments.
The Intern will complete one personal portfolio project in line with career goals and objectives under guidance of the Manager of Artistic Development.
Qualifications/Requirements
Must be a BA/BS currently enrolled in a four-year college/university. We are not able to sponsor international students in Overhead departments.
Desired Characteristics
Art, Animation, Graphic Design, Film Production and/or Communications majors strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of programs like Adobe Photoshop, or additional Adobe-like applications a plus
Basic graphic design skills
Good knowledge of Google Applications or similar office software packages -- Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Gmail, and Google Calendar
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Must be confident in their ability to interact comfortably with employees at all levels of the organization and demonstrate this through their written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Candidates must be highly self-motivated individuals who function well in fast-paced, frenetic production based environments.
Comfortable with light lifting and moving of studio equipment.
Experience in a customer service role/industry.
Experience with artistic classes or environments (i.e. schools, museums, galleries, etc.)
Advanced design skills
Some familiarity with wiki platforms, such as Confluence
