Job Summary:
The Manager of Platform Strategy – Short Form is responsible for developing, managing and implementing the content strategy for all short form content across all Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior platforms, including overseeing the Disney Channels YouTube strategy. In partnership with key brand stakeholders, this individual will identify all of the assets needed to create cohesive multi-platform content plans to drive audience engagement across our social/digital platforms.
This role requires strategic thinking, exemplary communication skills, strong presentation skills, the ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships, independent thought, and the foresight to involve executive management to help resolve issues as they arise. This individual should be able to make confident and intelligent decisions that reflect a solid understanding of the business goals and strategies, while also maintaining the integrity and quality of the projects for which they are responsible. This person should also be enthusiastic and passionate about our content, brands and talent and contribute creative strategic ideas. This role reports to Director, Platform Strategy with 2 direct reports. This individual should be experienced managing a team and be able to balance competing priorities.
Responsibilities:
Strategy
• Set the strategy for short form to drive audience engagement across Disney Channel, Disney Descendants and Disney Junior platforms
• Lead overall strategy for YouTube, managing and socializing best practices to key stakeholders and the organization at large
• Leverage knowledge of individual platforms and audience behavior to ensure cohesive content strategies acknowledging the needs from the individual platforms
• Partner with Director, Platform Strategy and relevant creative teams to identify all assets needed across the multi-platform landscape
• Liaise with Social Team to ensure cohesive multiplatform strategy driven by short form content; develop brand voice aligned with Platform Strategy and Engagement Marketing
• Partner with content production groups (Original Programming, Short-form, Marketing, Social Media, Disney Interactive, etc.) to identify and direct content opportunities
• Managing YouTube Analytics reporting and campaign performance in collaboration with Social Analytics Team
Management
• Oversee Coordinator and Senior Video Specialist who manage all schedules and uploads which include: Monthly Calendars, Fiscal Calendars, Content Grids, and One Sheets
• Manage Coordinator who oversees internal workflows/systems to ensure that all short form assets are ordered, created and delivered on time
• Create and manage the ongoing list of short form assets needed in order to deliver against fiscal year plans and YouTube Platform Strategy Goals
• Create and manage fiscal year annual calendar to ensure social/digital platforms reflect programming events and priorities as well as cross functional (social) activities
• Lead VEVO content release routing with Disney Music Group, Brand Development & Integrated Planning, and Consumer Insights & Programming
• Develop and manage Fiscal Planning Calendars for Disney Channel, Disney Junior and any other franchise priorities
Relationships
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all YouTube and short form across Disney Channels Worldwide and The Walt Disney Company
• Manage relationship with Google/YouTube partners
• Partner with Social Analytics team to proactively monitor performance of our content across the multi-platform landscape and utilize that information to inform future strategies
• Attend Planning and Strategy meetings to discuss content roll-outs
• Facilitate conversations with international programmers regarding YouTube and short form programming
Basic Qualifications:
• 5 years media experience, preferably in children's media
• 5 years of experience managing people or projects
• Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form
• Ability to manage multiple projects and creative ideas in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Teams; Google docs; Keynote
• Knowledge of the competitive media landscape including kids' brands
• Background in social, advertising, marketing or television
• BA required in related field
Preferred Qualifications:
• Disney experience
• Experience programming children's television
• Experience managing a social account for a national brand
• Experience managing a YouTube channel with 100k subscribers
• YouTube Certification and experience implementing YouTube best practices
