Part Time Unpaid Internship
Job Summary:
ABC News' Specialized Units leads the news division in breaking news stories and providing original content to all platforms. The Specialized Units works on medical, business, law/justice, and investigative stories as well as bookings for high profile interviews, ABC News specials and all ABC News programs.
Responsibilities:
A day in the life…
• Digitizing and logging content
• Researching and writing news stories
• Assisting in booking
• Pitching original story ideas and researching characters
• Various administrative duties including sensitive show information
Basic Qualifications:
What you bring to the role…
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Interest in business, legal, medical and current affairs storie
• Pursuing a degree in journalism or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience (academic or previous internship) in broadcast or print journalism
• Previous experience (academic or internship) in writing for news stories
Preferred Qualifications:
• Undergraduate students in their junior year, senior year or recent graduate
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Prefer strong writer and ability to shoot
• Social Media and pop culture savvy
• Foreign language proficiency a plus
Additional Information:
Internship Eligibility
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
• Must be able to work in the New York City office and provide your own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
Program Dates
• Must be available from January to April/May
• Must be willing to work 40 hours/week
