DATG Digital Media Business Development Internship (MBA), Spring 2019
Job Summary:
The DATG Digital Media business is responsible for delivering digital video experiences across a broad array of platforms, including web, iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast and more.
The intern will support the Digital Media Business Development team, on the strategic development and execution of new business opportunities that align with each network's growth goals, and effectively extend DATG's penetration and profitability in the digital marketplace. The candidate should have digital media / entertainment experience and/or passion for the space (i.e., use/engage in social media, watch television, access content on digital platforms, etc.).
Responsibilities:
A day in the life…
No two days are the same in the BD world. A single day can range from meeting with an exciting social net, evaluating a start-up, to negotiating with an ad tech company, across any or all of the DATG business units – from news to entertainment. If you are interested in working in a fast-paced, analytic-yet-creative environment and contributing to DATG's digital strategy, this is the place for you.
The intern may (among other duties):
-Assess market opportunity (market sizing, trends, etc.) for new business ventures.
-Assist with business plans, financial modeling and presentations.
-Assist with deals and vendor negotiations/vetting.
-Work with cross functional teams on prioritization and launch of digital products.
-Manage partner relationships.
-Conduct competitive landscaping and analysis.
Basic Qualifications:
-Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
-Proven skills utilizing MS Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
-Prior work experience in a business development, strategy, management consulting, or finance role.
-Passion for working in digital media.
-Comprehensive understanding of the digital media industry and broadcast television.
-Proven ability to initiate and champion projects across divisions, and build strong relationships with cross-functional team members.
-Experience analyzing complex data and creating actionable recommendations.
-Ambitious and motivated, with a strong work ethic.
-Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience executing deals for major media, tech, or content companies, or other significant digital media properties.
-Interest, knowledge, and experience in the mobile industry.
-Skilled at structuring and negotiating complex agreements.
-Thorough understanding of network TV, studio, and digital content and licensing business.
-Creative problem solver with ability to combine ideas from multiple industries to digital media.
-Proven ability to create and deliver senior-management level presentations.
Additional Information:
-All candidates must be eligible to work in the US.
-All candidates must be at least 18 years old.
-All students must currently be enrolled in an MBA program and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an MBA program.
- All students must be available to work at least 2 to 3 days a week in Burbank, CA.
-All candidates must be available during the months of January through May
-All candidates must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session.
-All candidates must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
