Job Summary:
The ABC Entertainment Communications / Media Relations team seeks a qualified and enthusiastic candidate for a Publicity Assistant to support the VP of ABC Entertainment Communications and team. Must be extremely detail-oriented and organized with an ability to multitask a high volume of assignments. Environment is demanding and fast-paced and involves preparation, revision, tracking and distribution of time-sensitive materials and projects. Great communication skills, writing, decision making and discretion are key. Ideal candidate has an interest in learning more about television publicity and possesses a highly efficient work-ethic, with an ability to pro-actively spot and act on opportunities for improvement.
Responsibilities:
Administrative
• Handle phone calls, complete expense reports, maintain business calendar
• Organize flow of information to and from Directors', VPs', and SVP's offices
• Scheduling meetings and maintaining extensive calendars
• General office duties including photocopying, faxing, shipping and ordering supplies
Project Work
• Coordinate staff meetings and team events
• Handles press requests
• Assists team at press events
• Draft and proofread press copy
• Update press lists
• Compile and distribute press clippings
• Gathers and enters new vendor information
• Tracks vendor invoices and payments
• Books and monitors talent travel
• Contributes to departmental projects, including digital broadcast production
• Implements special projects as assigned
Internal Relationships
• Interact with media relations management and staff
• Interact with ABC and DATG management
• Interact with Administrative and other staff
External Relationships
• Interact with Consumer Press, Trade Press and other media outlets, PR firms, studio PR counterparts
• Interact with talent and their publicists/representatives
Basic Qualifications:
• Candidate should have a minimum of two years administrative experience
• Highly proficient with computers, including, without limitation, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Proven organizational and prioritization skills
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to exercise appropriate judgment in executing tasks without supervision
• Ability to multi-task a variety of projects at any given time and manage deadlines independently
• Effective communication skills in both verbal and written form
• Team player attitude with the ability to interact with multiple levels of employees and clients within and outside the organization.
• Must possess enthusiasm, flexibility and creativity and be willing to assume challenges and increased responsibility.
• Ability to listen to and understand circumstances and context, and respond with appropriate solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
• SAP experience?
• Prior publicity and/or entertainment industry experience
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred Education
• Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Communications, Journalism, Media Relations, Public Relations
