Part Time Paid Internship
Job Summary:
The ABC News Special Events team handles all breaking news and planned production of major news events. Breaking news events can include everything from politics to major weather disasters, mass shootings and terrorist attacks. Planned special reports have included royal weddings, presidential inaugurations and congressional hearings. A Fall intern will work specifically on midterm election preparation along with aiding in any other daily breaking news events.
Responsibilities:
A day in the life…
• Research for midterm election related projects
• Control room assistance for midterm election and other breaking news events
• Drafting on-screen graphics content
Basic Qualifications:
What you bring to the role…
• Understanding of and interest in basic and complex political topics
• Strong research skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs, Google Docs, etc.
• Flexible hours, including flexibility with working early mornings, late nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters Degree preferred
Prior journalism or newsroom experience
Additional Information:
Internship Eligibility
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
• Must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
Program Dates
• Must be available from September to December
• Must be willing to work a minimum of 20-24 hours/week
