The Role
This position oversees TLC multi-platform content and business strategy reports into the Digital Studios Group and the President/GM of TLC. This candidate will focus on leveraging existing digital and emerging platforms to create a holistic viewer experience and drive new audience growth and monetization opportunities. Their interaction will be aligned with TLC’s programming, marketing, communications, research, and production teams while directly managing the social and digital network team and building out a new strategy for TLCMe.com. The ideal candidate has strong digital experience for original content creation in the lifestyle space, TV network, and/or reality programming space. This person will need to be skilled at managing multiple stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
The VP of Multi-Platform Strategy & Digital Media leads content optimization through all stages of the pipeline ensuring alignment with the network group’s multi-platform goals and serves as a key member of the TLC senior team. This role requires a unique blend of creative instincts, social media aptitude, measurement and executive management skills. The position also requires passion for female reality programming. Social media fluency is a must, with a proven history of building, programming and managing a vibrant social community.
This position can sit in either Silver Spring, Maryland or New York City, New York.
Responsibilities
1. Provide inspirational and creative thought leadership for reaching and gaining the attention of target audiences to drive viewership and revenue across platforms.
2. Build, lead, and manage a team of talented professionals.
3. Develop strategic multi-platform content plans and manage its associated budget to achieve creative & financial goals with social driven experiences.
4. Contribute to the development and production of multi-platform content initiatives including pre-shows, after shows & live programming to extend the network brand(s) on linear and digital.
5. Foster a brand voice that connects with viewers, maximizes engagement and creates sharing, talk value and advocacy.
6. Work collaboratively with teams across business units and lead the tactical planning of creative ideas, plans and strategies in a way that supports a solid ROI for the digital investment.
7. Work closely with the network and digital research teams to integrate and measure the value and impact of key programs and campaigns.
8. Serve as a key network partner and liaison to create multi-platform content windowing strategies.
9. Ensure content offerings are consistent and brand building across the user experience on linear, .com, GO/TV Everywhere, VOD, SVOD, EST and emerging platforms.
10. Serve as lead network partner to drive digital strategy including the development of new digital products, digital licensing revenue, digital business development efforts and digital ad sales revenue.
11. Serve as the network lead fostering content development relationships with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube and other primary/key partnerships.
12. Continually evolve best practices and establish repeatable operational methodologies and mechanisms that enable efficiency, growth, and consistency.
13. Develop partnerships and productive working relationships with global counterparts, share best practices and explore opportunities to co-fund and co-produce content.
14. Manage external vendors and partners as necessary.
Requirements
* College degree, combined with 10 years of media industry, marketing/advertising work experience.
* Demonstrated expertise with marketing concepts, creative development processes, digital marketing effectiveness/ROI.
* Direct experience in the consumer discipline, direct marketing, consumer promotion, and entertainment industry is a plus.
* Proven viral outreach and social network marketing skills and knowledge.
* Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills are essential for this highly collaborative position.
* Ability to formulate creative strategies, strategically assess executional options, think creatively and provide detailed follow-through on campaigns is required.
* Must be a highly organized, detail-conscious leader.
* Must also have a solid understanding of the dynamics of building partnerships for non-traditional marketing and promotion.
