We are looking for a Sr. Software Architect to integrate and extend Discovery’s global payment services into our award winning app: Food Network: In the Kitchen. You’ll be part of a team that is driving the future of the app experience, helping make In the Kitchen an indispensable tool for everyday cooks used by millions of customers each day.
Within this role, you will be developing services that integrate with Discovery’s payments platform and architecting the end-to-end solution that includes user authentication, billing, reporting, and customer support. You will be building our services primarily using cutting edge AWS serverless technologies such as Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis, and DynamoDB (amongst many others). Our services are a combination of event-driven, REST, and GraphQL.
This will be a hands-on role where you’ll be successful by: participating in all aspects of the agile software development process; you’ll develop code (APIs and services used by web and app clients), create technical design documents, collaborate with other teams on shared objectives.
Responsibilities
1. Develop integration plan with Discovery’s Global Payments team to build/extend
existing payments services in support of Digital Studios direct-to-consumer products
2. Collaborates with product, design, editorial, marketing, engineering leadership, and
security operations teams on objectives and technical requirements
3. Day-to-day support of project initiatives including: participation in sprint planning, team
retrospectives, code reviews, and user interviews.
4. Collaborates with Product Manager to set team goals.
5. Set technical direction while ensuring that they align with the goals of the larger
organization.
6. Meet with the rest of the engineering management team to align engineering-wide
priorities.
7. Become a subject matter expert on subscription and commerce (ex: payments, billing,
data privacy, security, and in-app payments)
8. Ability to travel to Discovery’s offices located in NY and London.
Requirements
* Experience: 7 years of experience implementing technology solutions, including 4 years of management experience
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field from an accredited college or university, or commensurate experience
* You have a consistent track record of recruiting and developing both managers and engineers.
* Experience integrating with subscription billing platforms (Zuora, Recurly, Chargify)
* Experience developing APIs and services (AWS Lambda functions, Kubernetes, etc)
* Experience with cloud infrastructure and platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Azure)
* Knowledge of compliance requirements like PCI, SOX, or GDPR.
* Knowledge of continuous delivery patterns (e.g., automated testing, continuous integration, continuous deployment)
* Knowledge of large scale application architecture, design, implementation and performance tuning.
* Knowledge of user authentication / customer identity platforms (ex: AWS Cognito, Janrain, Gigya, Auth0)
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
