Full Time Job
The Manager, Risk Management & Insurance will have primary responsibility for overseeing all aspects of insurance administration, claims handling, and accumulation of exposure data for Discovery’s workers’ compensation, general liability, auto liability, international liability, environmental and motor sport promotors liability programs; as well as secondary role in compiling renewal information for various other Discovery insurance programs. The Manager, Risk Management & Insurance will also assist the VP, Risk Management in other areas of risk management as needed, including but not limited to, vendor contract review, general administration of Discovery’s worldwide production wrap program, and general risk & insurance-related consultancy with internal business units around the world.
Responsibilities
Insurance Program Management
1. Prepare and analyze underwriting data and complete insurance renewal applications for domestic and international casualty programs, environmental liability and motor sports promotors liability.
2. Take lead on placement, renewal negotiations, and ongoing management of domestic casualty insurance in conjunction with insurance brokers.
3. Analyze insurance policies including original policy documentation, endorsements, and amendments to insure all legal entities are properly covered. Identify and resolve any potential coverage issues.
4. Administer all renewal certificates of insurance to maintain compliance with various contracts/leases.
5. Renew/Update any insurer collateral requirements in conjunction with Corporate Treasury.
6. Arrange payroll reports for end of term casualty audits, working with insurer’s auditor and internal business units where appropriate.
7. Continuously monitor changes in business operations to make sure there are no coverage gaps between the separate production wrap insurance and corporate casualty programs.
Insurance Claims Management
1. Assist various business units in reporting claims to appropriate insurance companies.
2. Manage all open casualty claims, including providing updates to adjusters, running claims reports, and processing monthly loss sensitive billing in a timely manner.
3. Prepare settlement analysis for high value claims within company retentions.
General Insurance Administration
1. Manage worldwide requests for certificates of insurance, notifying the correct brokers and making sure internal business units received correct certificates that comply with various contractual obligations.
2. Update policy register and policy summaries based on renewals and any midterm coverage and/or limits changes.
3. Assist VP, Risk Management in reviewing insurance and risk related provisions in our legal contracts, providing recommendations and comments where appropriate.
4. When needed, assist VP, Risk Management on M&A activity including due diligence, contract review, and integration of acquired operations (or support of divestitures) into insurance programs.
Requirements
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with co-workers, related internal functions, external partners and on project teams.
* Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong oral and written communication skills, including presenting data and analysis clearly to management.
* Strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Must have the legal right to work in the US.
* BA/BS degree is required.
* Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in risk management and insurance; preferably in a corporate risk management setting.
* Knowledge of film/tv production risk a plus.
* Experience in contract review.
* Extensive knowledge of claims handling.
* High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
* Ability to travel commercially (Travel < 10%)
