Overview
The Factual Brands (Discovery, Animal Planet, and Science) Research team is looking for a Manager who will help develop, design and implement consumer facing research to inform decision-making across all three networks and discovery originals. The team partners with development, production, marketing, and programming to transform research insights into impactful strategies. The manager role will support quantitative and qualitative research initiatives and audience analysis to uncover and understand viewer behavior, industry trends, and brand opportunities.
Responsibilities
• Proactively identifying areas where consumer research or input are required
• Recommending and designing appropriate studies or research approaches; working to get stakeholder buy-in/approval
• Executing a range of different types of qualitative and quantitative research studies, as needed to meet project goals
• Responsible for RFPs, research design, questionnaire and discussion guide development, data tab specs, data analysis, reporting, delivery, and presentation
• Synthesizing and analyzing data; translating research insights into actionable recommendations and direction
• Maintaining awareness tracking, research calendar, scheduling, and finance processes (submitting POs, receiving invoices)
• Managing day-to-day relationships and project logistics with external research partners
Qualifications
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
• 4 years of experience in TV/media primary or market research, consumer insights, or consumer research. Familiarity with content, brand, marketing research methodologies
• Experience designing, managing, and/or executing custom/primary research studies (quantitative research methodologies, survey design, qualitative research methodologies, data analysis),
• Strong analytic and critical thinking skills; ability to translate research findings into easily digestible, actionable insights
• Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects and set priorities to ensure deadlines are met or exceeded within tight timeline
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills (or Google equivalents)
• Prior experience working with cable brands or streaming services is highly desirable
• Previous experience working with Nielsen data and systems Npower and Multitrak; Lake5, a plus but not required
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States
• Occasional travel may be required
