Full Time Job
The Discovery Channel Manager - Research is based in LA, reports to the Vice President and utilizes Nielsen ratings data, and other consumer databases to inform and develop programming, scheduling, marketing, press and business strategies.
Responsibilities
1. Collect, analyze, and interpret Nielsen ratings data as well as other third party vendors.
2. Transform data into valuable/actionable information communicated through written and oral presentations.
3. Develop creative approaches to uncover consumer insights and marketplace trends to support audience building initiatives.
4. Provide expertise on competitive trends and the changing television landscape.
5. In collaboration with research team members, develop and direct special Nielsen studies to explore opportunity areas for audience.
6. Track and assess impact of marketing and promotional efforts and advise on media plans.
7. Model out impact of programming changes.
8. Oversee production of regular Nielsen reports as directed.
9. Present in executive meetings, as needed, and in support of Research executive leadership team
Requirements
* Four years of experience in media research, cable television preferred.
* Thorough knowledge of Nielsen data and systems Npower and Multitrak; Lake5, Audience Watch, and/or Rentrak a plus
* Solid research, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to synthesize information and research data to ''tell a story'' with action-oriented implications
* Ability to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong interest in understanding consumer behavior
* Team player
* Must be able to work independently, yet take direction well when necessary
* Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint
* Minimum of a BS or BA degree required
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
