Live Events Systems Engineer is a leading member of the Broadcast Engineering team in Sterling, VA. This position will manage all engineering aspects of live broadcast and social media on-air events. This person will work jointly with Media Engineering, Operations and network clients to realize all the requirements of each event. Must be able to balance technical requirements with creative desires and provide a solid and comprehensive production plan.
Responsibilities
1. Serve as the primary interface for Media Engineering with Operations and network clients through the process of creation to execution on all live events.
2. Coordinate efforts with all parties involved for each event.
3. Build and foster the relationships with network clients to understand each other’s needs.
4. Must be able to handle high pressure multi-tasking situations.
5. Must have strong leadership skills and the willingness to lead by example.
6. Excellent customer service, client management and communication skills required.
7. Excellent problem solving and organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks are a must.
8. Ensure proper state of all live and social media systems. Coordinate regular maintenance and necessary upgrades.
9. Create and maintain standard operating procedures and system documentation for all broadcast systems.
10. Support other Media Engineering responsibilities and duties as assigned (i.e. support of front line duties)
11. Engage and assist in all learning opportunities within the department. Continued development and constant collaboration is key to our team’s success.
Requirements
* Ability to understand signal flow in a multi-channel environment and broadcast operations.
* A minimum of five years’ experience maintaining broadcast television or production equipment.
* Demonstrated knowledge of serial digital broadcast equipment, broadcast automation systems and social media solutions.
* Strong IT skills required including Microsoft Office programs (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Must be flexible to support scheduling for 24/7 broadcast operations, live and Social TV events.
* Ability to lift heavy equipment as needed (50 lbs.).
* Ability to work any shift schedule.
* This position is considered an essential position. This means that during times of inclement weather, emergencies, or when access to the workplace may be impeded, that employees in this position are expected to report to work to support business continuance, unless otherwise instructed by his/her direct manager.
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
