The IT Security Engineer will bring together aspects of systems engineering, cloud technologies, virtual systems, operational security, software engineering, and networking to aid in developing streamlined defenses and workflows of security systems. Security Engineer will work with Security Architects in the day-to-day execution of security strategic initiatives, evaluate security components of the network, applications and End-User devices, provides guidance to ensure new systems meet regulatory and technical standards, and provides oversight and guidance to the Security Operations Canter for incident response and closure.
Responsibilities
• Assists the Security Architect in developing standard operating procedures, delivery of security solutions, and integration activities. Performs technical audits of systems and applications to ensure compliance with policy, standards and regulations.
• Identify and define system security requirements.
• Advise on the design of security monitoring infrastructure for on premise and cloud solutions.
• Develop new technical solutions and security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
• Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices and ensure the proper operation of security processing routines.
• Establish and maintain processes to monitor network traffic for irregular activity.
• Apply INFOSEC best-practices and principles to network protocols, architectures, equipment, services, standards and technology.
• Monitor networks, devices and computer systems for accuracy and/or abuse.
• Develop security test plans based on system architecture, dataflow, and hardware/software profile information.
• Review the KPI monitoring systems and determine ways to improve their ability to maintain security operations
• Work to improve and automate security metrics to include KPI and KRI
• Maintain an updated vision of pertinent industry trends to ensure information security is in line with industry and industry threats
• Identifies and manages assigned security related issues and works with management to help establish and track security objectives. Coordinates and leads vendor selection, and security-related project task execution.
• Works with the Chief Information Security Officer Management staff, the IT architecture team and other teams to ensure compliance to security standards and policies.
• Work with other departments to assist in engineering and or provide technical integration of security solutions and monitoring systems
• Provides leadership, mentoring, and training to the IT Security team and in relation to other departments inside and outside of the Information Technology organization.
• Ensures communication and escalation of security activities to leadership, assists in building and configuration of new security tools and systems. Works with the business departments to assure that their operational requirements are being met in a secure manner.
Requirements
• One or more of the following certifications required:
• GSEC, GCIH, SSCP, CCSP, CISSP-ISSEP, CEH, GCIA, GISF, Security Plus, Network Plus preferred but 7 years of experience and demonstrated knowledge accepted
• Strong time management and organizational skills required
• Strong customer service, communication, and presentation skills required
• BS degree in computer science or computer engineering preferred; will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a high school diploma or GED equivalent
• 5 years of progressive experience with increasing responsibilities within a Security Operations environment
• 3 years of IT security engineering work experience including 2 years of cloud security environment))
• Experience knowledge of TCP/IP, networking design, and routing architectures
• Experience knowledge of network security systems and protocols, including firewalls, Radius and TACACS , IPSEC and IKE, SSH, etc.
