The International Content & Strategy Group, based in New York City, is the creative content information and strategic planning lifeline between Discovery’s US networks and the international markets. We manage a variety of services reaching 200 countries in 50 languages around the world.
Reporting to the Director of International Content & Strategy, the manager will act as the main strategy and programming liaison between the US networks and International markets. They will maintain oversight of the US project lifecycle by sourcing and tracking content from development through delivery. They will be responsible for facilitating communication and information sharing between the US and International networks. They will support the Director and VP in developing and strengthening strategic and collaborative relationships.
(S)he will use independent decision making, systems expertise, knowledge of regional programming strategies and business objectives to effectively address program planning needs, including management of output deal. This is as directed by the Director in liaison with the VP of Content & Strategy.
Responsibilities
1. Manage the day to day operations of the strategic content partnership between the international markets and assigned US networks. Own and optimize the process of regular communication of US inventory, strategic and operational priorities.
2. Support Director and VP in generating international strategies for lifestyle and factual programming alongside the relevant regional programmers. Includes understanding regional needs, inventory shortfalls and recommending programming to fit the overall strategy.
3. Establish and maintain close working relationships with key domestic and international teams including development, marketing, production and programing.
4. Attend assigned US network production and taskforce meetings and report production, programming and scheduling updates (including: creative, scheduling intel, ratings analysis, etc.). Chair monthly and quarterly programming forums for US networks and regions to share strategies, best practices and creative.
5. Oversee 360 key priority and fast turn specials to help maximize global content alignment. Collaborate with International Media Logistics to ensure availability of key assets and deliverables.
6. Track regional airdates for DNI corporate and US inquiries. Work with Director to develop solid systems and processes for tracking regional scheduling plans.
7. Work with the regional sourcing teams, legal, program sales, and the US networks to ensure interested rights are carved out.
8. Assist in developing departmental inventory reports and presentations.
9. Represent Director, VP and international constituents at relevant events and meetings as requested.
10. Support Director and VP on other assignments as required.
Requirements
* Minimum 6 years international media experience, preference for international experience/setting
* Genuine interest in international programming and an ability to focus on the broader view
* Customer service-oriented attitude and ability to interact with wide variety of constituents and clients at all levels (domestic and international)
* Ability to independently multitask and manage a varied portfolio of networks and multiple regions with unique needs in a deadline driven environment
* Exceptional communication, presentation and organizational skills
* Keen attention to detail
* Proficiency with Office Suite and demonstrate competency in learning new software and Discovery specific systems (HIVE and Business Intelligence knowledge a plus)
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
