Full Time Job
Oversee high level operations of assigned Discovery network(s), bundle or specified functionalities within the TV Commercial Operations department with accountability for producing quality product with minimal discrepancies and maximum revenue retention. Provide strategic direction and recommendations for streamlining workflow processes for maximum efficiency and in a manner that most help maximize and retain revenue and increase efficiencies that successfully meet company directives.
Responsibilities
1. Perform managerial staff activities including interviews, hiring, PTO approval, reviews, training, development and disciplinary actions. Focus on staff development in a manner that ensures high performance and exceptional quality of work.
2. Define and develop efficient work processes, policies and procedures in a manner that ensures maximum revenue retention with minimal discrepancies or credit requests
3. Oversee interaction with Inventory Control and Pricing and Planning to ensure that daily potential and inventory shifts are managed in a way that maximizes revenue potential and provides accountability for revenue retention.
4. Provide direction and resolution management for complex sales issues including oversell and separation situations, conflicts, competitive issues, exclusivities, sponsorships, preempts
5. Monitor off-air and on-air discrepancies. Provide detailed explanation and accountability to upper management on all discrepancies and confirmed credit requests that result from input error or failure to adhere to established TV Commercial Operations policies and procedures.
6. Monitor or perform log reconciliation in adherence to all company and legal regulations subject to review by internal and external audit process
Requirements
* Minimum 6-year experience in TV Commercial Operations/Traffic with a comprehensive understanding of all traffic functionalities and working knowledge of Ad Sales, Creative Services, Programming, Accounting, Marketing, Network Operations and Pricing & Planning/Inventory processes.
* Demonstrated ability to produce desired results in a volatile environment while maintaining a high degree of professionalism, flexibility and commitment to quality
* Proven experience as a results-oriented manager with demonstrated examples of strong leadership, creative problem solving and collaborative mindset
* Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource management, goal setting, staff training and development
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
* Strong organization skills
* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* Must have the legal right to work in the United States
